At the heart of the ES7 is its powerful tone generator with a whopping 256 notes of polyphony and improved digital to analog audio conversion. This new processor also allows for greatly enhanced and expanded reverbs and effects, including a collection of amp simulations. These amp sims are especially useful when playing the new vintage EP sounds found on the ES7, which are taken from Kawai’s powerful MP series professional stage pianos.

Perhaps the single most significant upgrade to the ES7 is the addition of USB audio capability. Users are able to record and playback both WAV and MP3 files. Having MP3 capability allows users to easily email song files and post them on web sites without having to first convert them from WAV files.
