M-Steel, short for Maraging Steel, is a superalloy used in ultra-high stress applications in the aerospace and defense industries. The wound strings feature a proprietary Super Cobalt alloy winding over a hex-shaped Maraging Steel core, producing a fuller, richer tone with more powerful low-end response. M-Steel flatwound strings are made from specially tempered steel for maximum fatigue resistance. A proprietary steel winding around the end of the flatwound string reduces slippage, breakage and maintains intonation better than conventional flatwound strings.
